Insurance via super

Protect what you're building

Insurance provides an important financial safety net for you and your family in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Depending on your super fund, you may be able to save money by taking advantage of some cost-effective insurance options.

The most common insurance options on offer through super funds are:

  • Death cover: provides a lump sum payout, in addition to your super account balance, if you die while still a member of the fund
  • Total and permanent disablement cover: provides a lump sum payout if you become totally and permanently disabled
  • Income protection cover: provides you with a replacement income if you are unable to work for an extended period of time, usually a month or more, although some policies will cover you after two weeks

A Commonwealth Financial Planner can help you identify the most suitable strategies for protecting you and your family. This could involve increasing your insurance via your super fund or taking out a separate insurance policy.
